The pair of pants I wanted to hate, a standout pair of flats, and a TV show I can’t stop thinking about.
These Donni gingham pants. I finally bit the bullet on these splurge-y gingham taffeta pants after eyeing them for months and part of me wanted to hate them… but I’m sorry to say they are pretty much perfect. My mom walked into the room when I was trying them on and was like, “oh, you have to keep those,” and, I mean, moms know best. I got the XS and they hit floor-length on me at 5’1”, but they’d be the perfect ankle length if you’re more average height.
These ballet flats. Maybe it’s just me, but is anyone finding great flats a little harder to come by this spring? I just want a standard shape in more colors beyond the basic navy and tan, and I’ve been searching harder than usual to find pairs that feel classic but not boring. I’ve tried and returned at least half a dozen pairs that had an unflattering shape or colors that felt too muted or washed out, but this pair was an immediate yes. Definitely follow their recommendation to size up though! I was a size 6 my whole life but I think now closer to a 6.5 after my fourth pregnancy (did this happen to anyone else?!) and I wound up keeping the size 7.

Easy party favors. We’re gearing up to host a backyard Easter egg hunt / 5th birthday party for Peter this weekend and I’m sticking to a party favor we’ve done before: these individual packs of sidewalk chalk with these stickers on top! It won’t be new to friends who’ve been to birthday parties at our house before, but my hope is sidewalk chalk is something that actually gets used vs. a bunch of plastic stuff that will get tossed a couple days later, plus it’s so easy and inexpensive to execute that we always send each child home with enough for their siblings too. Just thought I’d share for anyone else looking for a new birthday party ideas!
My new jeans. You may have seen I did a massive denim try-on (36 pairs!) and found 4 really great pairs I wound up keeping. These have been my new go-to since I didn’t have to have them hemmed even at 5’1”, but I just picked up these and these from the tailor (I took an inch or so off each pair) and am excited to have them in the rotation. You can see reviews and measurements for all 36 pairs here!
The Pitt. Who else is just absolutely obsessed with this show? I swear I count down the days until new episodes on Thursday nights. I am rooting for many different outcomes for many different characters and it’s sucked me in in a way I haven’t felt about a TV show in a long time. Highly recommend tuning in (only 1.5 seasons so far!) if you haven’t already!
Outdoor play. I think I speak for all New England moms when I say we are extra over winter this year. We’ve only had a handful of springy days so far this year, but the difference in my mood when our kids are playing in the backyard vs. tearing up the playroom for the 60th day in a row cannot be overstated. Would love to hear if anyone has any recs for outdoor activities/games/sports equipment that keep their kids outside as much as possible!

The chalk goodie bag is such a good idea!
