February favorites
Little loves from the snowiest month of our lives.
A night out with new friends. Will and I are terrible about scheduling regular date nights, but we always rally for a double date where we can’t bail just because we’re tired or the weather isn’t great. Recently we got together at Casa Me in Westport with three other couples we’ve met this past year through our oldest’s kindergarten class and had such a fun night. I honestly can’t remember the last time we went out to dinner with such a large group and it was a great way to get to know several new friends better in just a couple hours. It makes me want to be better about being the kind of friend to get those plans on the calendar vs. just saying yes when invited!
My favorite bra. Candidly I will tell you nothing about my boobs is the same after breastfeeding four babies and I don’t know why I thought wearing one of my pre-motherhood underwire bras out was a good idea, but can I just tell you I have never ripped something off my body so quickly the second I got home! I think this wireless bralette I discovered between my third and fourth pregnancies has pretty much spoiled everything else. If you need more support, this style is also super comfy!
The kindness of other moms. Last week was our first time flying with all four kids and I would give the boys an A+ on three out of the four flights (that last one after a flight delay was… not our best). We checked more luggage than we’ve ever checked in our lives and still had our hands full in the airport, but I was touched by lots of little words of encouragement from other moms and grandmothers telling us and our boys we were doing great. Definitely foddler for the kind of mom I want to be!
I ordered a couple new pairs of Floafers in time for our trip last week (had a couple that worked as hand-me-downs — love when that happens!) and was thankful for this handy shoe sizer I’ve had since our oldest was a toddler. If you’ve been ordering/returning/exchanging children’s shoes every season without one, this little ~$20 purchase will make your life just a little bit easier.
Kodiak protein waffles. We are going through a major picky eating phase with one of our kids and I try not to get too bent out of shape over these kinds of things (deep breaths, this too shall pass, etc. etc.) but I will say I’m grateful for protein waffles and peanut butter as an easy default substitute that’s not wholly devoid of nutrients. In any event, if you’re in the throes of some picky eating business in your home… solidarity.
M.Gemi driving loafers. I just got these shoes in the navy suede and they are so cute I’m tempted to order the denim blue suede as well! Eager for the snow to melt so I can wear them just about everywhere. Code MACKENZIE15 will give you 15% off sitewide.
