April favorites
A proud friend moment, the first bag I’ve bought this year, and what’s making our powder room smell so good.
White jeans. I’m definitely not waiting until after Memorial Day to pull my white jeans to the front of the drawer, and I just tried on 19 pairs so hopefully you don’t have to. This $148 pair that comes in three different inseams has been the fan favorite thus far, but I always get rave reviews in my DMs about these wide leg jeans (even as someone who’s 5’1”!). You can see my other 2 keepers + honest reviews of the 15 pairs I returned right here!
A spring-y diffuser. We had around 60 people here for Peter’s 5th birthday party earlier this month and I had three separate moms come up to me and tell me our powder room smelled amazing. This racquet club scent is lovely in candle form too, but the diffuser is the perfect clean, spring-y scent that’s not too overpowering in a small space. Paired with this divinely fragrant hand wash, our powder room really has never smelled better.
Small Wonders. My friend Jen writes the brilliant blog Magpie by Jen Shoop and recently published her first book, Small Wonders. Her wise words on matrescence buoyed me on countless occasions in new motherhood and she is somehow even more wonderful in person. We got to hang in person this week at her book launch party at Ann Mashburn on the Upper East Side and I teared up hearing about her dedication to her dad. I’m sure 99% of you are already familiar with her work but on the off chance you’re not, her site and her book are sure to be instant favorites!
This La Ligne sweater. Admittedly I needed another striped sweater like I need a hole in the head but…! Their knits are such gorgeous quality and I fell for this extra happy color combination. I wore it with white jeans to pick daffodils with the boys and felt spring-y but still cozy. Code MACKENZIEH10 should give you 10% off your first La Ligne purchase (this dress and these pants are my other two favorites of theirs).
This Veronica Beard bag. I think this is the first bag I’ve purchased all year (? don’t check me on that) and I’ve been reaching for it surprisingly often — it somehow works just as well for lunch with a girlfriend as it does for a dinner out with kids. It comes in a few colors but the off-white and gold combo has filled a gap in my closet I didn’t know I had.
Green! I can’t tell you how glad I am to see green on the trees, on the grass, on our climbing roses and hydrangea bushes. This felt like a never-ending winter and our backyard coming back to life makes me feel like we’ve made it to the other side.
